Where did this come from?

While reported briefly in the national media, the conservative, Republican dominated school board of Texas put out a revised curriculum. In this curriculum they left out Thomas Jefferson; he did not fit into their views because he dared to advocate for separation of church and state. The radical school board also forces the teaching of creationism, just about eliminating natural evolution, Darwin’s theory. Next they will get rid of the theory of relativity. So where did this radical thinking come from, in fact, how can the citizens of Texas allow this unscholarly curriculum be passed? The Conservative movement  has just about reached their zenith; they feel victory at hand, in the form of the Tea Party. The best research I have read was contained in a book by Thomas Frank, aptly named “The Wrecking Crew”, which you can find here. His sources are well respected and well known, an excellent read. Perhaps better informed citizens  can prevent this violation of education rights of Americans from happening elsewhere.

Teaching numerous theories, even as fact, is healthy and wise. It is teaching beliefs as the only option that is a problem. As a student of history I have found that yesterdays facts are not always the same as todays.

I couldn’t agree more. Scientists in Darwin’s time were completely amenable to the supernatural genesis of the world, and other miracles as well. The laws of physics, and the laws of the universe haven’t changed one iota. Perspective on the EXACT SAME PROCESSES is the ONLY THING that has changed.
